Standard Itinerary
1. Hotel Pickup
Your English-speaking driver will collect you from your hotel in Beijing at the scheduled time. Sit back and relax—your drive to the Mutianyu Great Wall takes about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on traffic.
2. Arrival & Ticketing Assistance
Upon arrival, your driver will assist you with purchasing tickets, escort you through the entrance, and share tips on how to make the most of your Great Wall adventure.
3. Free Time to Marvel at the Great Wall!
At the base near the entrance, you can choose between two scenic lines: East Line or West Line, each dotted with watchtowers and breathtaking views.
Option 1: West Line via Cable Car. Take the cable car up to Watchtower 14 for panoramic views with minimal effort. You can then walk along the wall to Watchtower 20, enjoying the scenery along the way, and return to Tower 14 to ride the cable car back down.
Option 2: East Line via Chairlift & Toboggan. Take the chairlift to Tower 6 and enjoy a pleasant walk to Tower 1. On your way down, you can choose to return via the chairlift or take a fun toboggan ride from Tower 6 back to the base.
Option 3: Free Hiking. For the adventurous, skip the lifts and hike your way up the wall. It’s more challenging but extremely rewarding!
4. Return to downtown Beijing
After your visit, your driver will be waiting at the base. Enjoy the scenic drive back to downtown Beijing (1.5–2 hours), with the option to return to your hotel or be dropped off at another location in the city.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We’ll take you to Mutianyu, one of the most popular and well-preserved sections, known for fewer crowds and beautiful scenery. Other sections are either farther away or much busier, but if you’d like to visit a different one such as Badaling/Huanghuacheng/Jinshanling etc., we can customize the tour for you (price will vary).
Car hire is priced by total number of passengers, regardless of age. Entrance tickets are 40 RMB per person, with half price (20 RMB) for children under 18. There are no senior discounts. Cable car, chairlift and toboggan rides have a fixed price for all ages.
The tour comes with an English-speaking driver, but not a separate guide. In our experience, a seperate guide is usually unnecessary. Your driver will assist with buying all tickets, explain how everything works, and escort you to the entrance. Once you are there, the Great Wall is essentially a vast natural area for hiking and wandering freely. Unlike a museum or historical site, it is best enjoyed at your own pace. However, if you’d like a guide, we can arrange one for an additional fee.
The Mutianyu Great Wall is about 70 km from downtown Beijing. The drive takes 1.5~2 hours each way, and most visitors spend 4~5 hours exploring the Wall itself. In total, the experience usually lasts 8~9 hours. Our price includes up to 9 hours of service, but since this is a private tour, you’re always free to set your own pace 🙂
Yes! Our team of professional drivers operates every day of the year. During peak travel seasons, we recommend booking in advance, as our drivers may become fully booked quickly. Once we receive your booking, we’ll confirm availability with you as soon as possible.
All our drivers speak English and Chinese, but unfortunately not other foreign languages. If needed, they are experienced in using translation apps🙂
